In what might sound like the plot to a movie, a Russian banker was sentenced to 30 months in prison for plotting to work with Russian intelligence in a role that, in part, included work as an HFT spy. One of the topics was how to use “trading robot activities” and high frequency trading as a weapon to destabilize the markets.
