Trump, Like Vladimir Putin, Inclined To Favor BrexitMark Melin
Simpatico opinions on a Brexit appear to exist between a major U.S. political candidate and leaders in Russia.
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has at times boasted of his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two may share common ground on the upcoming Brexit vote in June, the subject of a behind the scenes hedge fund trade.
Trump's leaning to favor Brexit, says it is not a bad idea, doubles down on immigration
Speaking on Fox News, Trump was quoted as leaning to favor Brexit – a vote in the United Kingdom to leave the European Union – saying it might not be a bad idea because immigration has been “a horrible thing for Europe.” The EU imposes immigration and other sovereign dictums on nations under its umbrella.
In doubling down on his views on immigration, Trump isn’t making a formal recommendation to favor Brexit on June 24, per say, he is just making his feelings known.
“A lot of that was pushed by the EU,” he said of immigration, then pointed to the value of EU membership. “I would say that they're better off without it personally, but I'm not making that as a recommendation - just my feeling. I want them to make their own decision. I know Great Britain very well. I know, you know, the country very well. I have a lot of investments there.”
