The markets certainly struggled during the third quarter. The increased volatility and panic during the past three months helped place US indices in deep negative territory for the year. As of this writing, the Dow Jones is -7.58% year to date, S&P 500 -5.22%, and the Nasdaq has held up relatively well with only a minimal loss of -0.6% for the year so far.
