Alternative investments offer different sources of return to better manage risk, William Blair noted in a white paper titled Read and Learn Alternative Investing, as it answered 22 questions about the topic and investing in its Macro Allocation fund. In a portfolio allocation, the report recommends funding from alternatives should come from the sector which it most logically matches.
