Gold has been one of the best-performing assets year-to-date. To June 22 the yellow metal had produced a positive return of 22% compared to -2% for the MSCI-DM index and +2% for the MSCI-EM index. However, at time of writing the price of gold is falling as it looks as if the UK is voting to remain to stay in the European Union.
