It’s been a challenging year for hedge funds, but a few have done an incredible job of protecting investors’ capital. For example, Five Corners Partners returned -1% gross and -1.1% net for June, compared to the S&P 500’s 8.3% loss and the Russell 2000’s 8.2% decline. The fund was down 2.6% for September, bringing its year-to-date return to -14.1% Five Corners only had one other down year in the last 22 years. It was off by 8% in 2008.
