ICE CEO On Business Plans Post-Merger

IntercontinentalExchange Inc (NYSE:ICE) Chairman and CEO Jeff Sprecher spoke with FOX Business Network (FBN) about the ICE merger with the NYSE Euronext (NYSE:NYX). Sprecher spoke about what’s ahead now that the merger is complete, saying, “One thing we are going to do is take a fresh look at the business and then sort of curate what we own.” He went on to say, “We are a much more powerful business together and we have some overlaps. We are going to work on that now. I hope to be able to announce it within the next week or two actually.” When asked whether this job is a long-term commitment, he said, “It is. I don’t enjoy doing what we’re doing now honestly and I think Duncan does a great job, which is to put a public face on a business. I am anxious to go back into my office and start tackling problems.”

We are going to work on that now. I hope to be able to announce it within the next week or two actually because now that we’re done we can be transparent and really get into the details.”

On whether this job is a long-term commitment for him:

“It is. I don’t enjoy doing what we’re doing now honestly and I think [NYSE CEO] Duncan does a great job, which is to put a public face on a business. I am anxious to go back into my office and start tackling problems which is what I do pretty well.”
