Known for his hoodies and 20-something demeanor, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently sat down with NBC’s Matt Lauer and chatted about an array of topics including  iPhone 5 and his wardrobe or lack thereof.

The interview is scheduled for Oct. 4 on the TODAY show and Rock Center with Brian Williams and one topic in a promo sent out by NBC before the air day included a discussion about the iPhone. According to the Mac Observer’s Bryan Chaffin, Zuckerberg explained that Apple’s CEO Tim Cook sent the new phone to his home.

What did the Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) exec think of the coveted phone? He said, “It’s a wonderful device.”

Zuckerberg further elaborated about the phone with:

iPhone is a great platform. There are more people who use Facebook on Android — because Android is just — more people use it, at this point. And the thing that I think a lot of people don’t think about is that there are actually more people in the world using Facebook on mobile Web, right, so not using the apps on iOS or Android, but actually just going to a browser on a phone. There are more people doing that than the iPhone and all of Android phones combined, right? So it’s actually a pretty diverse ecosystem.

Additional nuggets from the interview includes a conversation about clothes. Yep, Lauer is known for his good taste and has received best dressed nods but well, you can’t exactly say the same thing about Zuckerberg.

He said to Lauer, after the question was posed about whether the CEO owns 12 identical gray t-shirts, “I mean, I wear the same thing every day, right? I mean, it’s literally, if you could see my closet.”

Zuckerberg explained he doesn’t have a lot in it as his new wife mainly used it.

But he does have more than a dozen of the shirts, even admitting to possibly owning about 20 of them. He then added, “I have one drawer.Like men everywhere. Like men everywhere.”

So why the utilitarian wear? Zuckerberg didn’t say in the promo clip but he isn’t alone as this seems to be the uniform of technology CEOs.

Who can forget Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs regular outfit: black turtlenecks, Levi’s 501 jeans. Maybe it is written into the corporate policy but new CEO, Tim Cook appears to favor the same vibe with his dark, long-sleeved button ups and jeans.

As Mark Twain used to say, clothes make the man.
