Short-Seller Spruce Point Returned 7 Percent For 2022: Here’s The Latest On Their Campaigns [Exclusive]

Activist short-selling firm Spruce Point declined 0.5% for December, bringing its full-year return to 7.1% net for 2022. In December, the fund’s short positions contributed 0.2% to its return, while its long positions subtracted 0.7%. For the full year, Spruce Point’s short positions generated a return of 8.1%, while its longs detracted 1.2%. The firm started its newest campaign against Super Micro Computer earlier this month. In its report, Spruce Point expressed “grave concerns” about the server and storage hardware manufacturer’s financial reporting and the sustainability of its recent stock price performance.
