Deputy Treasury Secretary Sarah Bloom Raskin expressed concern over rising American student loan debt and seeing worrying similarities to the U.S. housing-market bubble.

The Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee, a group of bond dealers and investors that advises the government on market dynamics, also points out in a report there is a “shadow book of potential future defaults, reflected in the volume of loans in deferment and forbearance”.
