The past few years have been difficult for short-sellers, so much that many funds with a short bias all but abandoned their strategy. However, the fourth quarter brought a new chapter—and hope for short-sellers as the pendulum finally swings the other direction. Q4 hedge fund letters, conference, scoops etc December was so volatile that most funds lost money in the month, and even the few that managed to post positive returns were down for the fourth quarter. Nonetheless, funds which continued to short stocks last year, like Half Moon Capital Partners, were rewarded for their efforts in the fourth quarter….
