Donald Trump’s track record as a businessman and property developer is pretty mixed. While he claims to be worth $3 billion today, in the past, his estimated net worth has been as high as $7 billion.

Trump might be worth more today if he hadn’t slipped up in 1990. In 1988, after he acquired the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan for $390 million, the New York Times claimed that the property developer was worth more than $3 billion. However, by the middle of 1990, Forbes estimated he was worth about $500 million.
