Warren Buffett Takes 8% Seritage Growth Properties Stake

Warren Buffett has taken an  8.02% stake in Seritage Growth Properties, a real estate trust created by retailer Sears. According to a Schedule 13G filed with the SEC today, Warren Buffett has acquired 2,000,000 shares of Seritage Growth Properties, a stake which is worth $79.5 million at time of writing. Seritage Growth Properties, a collection of 235 real estate properties recently spun off from struggling retailer Sears as well as Sears’ 50% interest in joint ventures with three mall operators, was spun off from its parent earlier this year and began trading as a separate public company during July.
