Lee Ainslie’s Maverick Capital is enjoying robust returns in 2023 with its hedge funds generating returns between 8.4% and 16.8% for the first quarter. However, the fund also has a private-equity strategy. Details on its private holdings are included in the portfolio supplement with its first-quarter letter, both of which were obtained by ValueWalk. Maverick’s Ventures and Growth strategy, which covers its private-equity holdings, account for $1.6 billion of its assets under management. The firm reported investments in 17 private companies, most of which are in healthcare. Maverick initially invested in most of the companies on its list in 2021….
