Japan’s aging population has been the focus of numerous economic studies, all pointing to the declining trend in population growth. The aging population trend is causing significant consternation as the ratio of those in the working world supporting the retiring has been a negative economic trend. Against this backdrop, Mizuho Securities is out with a report that wonders if population statistics are being appropriately accounted for, as foreigner inflows relative to new births in the region come into focus.
