Billionaire octogenarian George Soros has a unique perspective on global affairs. Having survived the Nazi era in Europe, and having learned the ins and outs of international business and politics in five decades in the financial sector, all filtered through a thoughtful, progressive moral perspective has given Soros a sharp political acumen.
Soros’ subjet du jour is the relationship between the U.S. and China, and the critical importance of a realistic understanding between these two global superpowers. He notes: “…the future course of history will greatly depend on how China tackles its economic transition from investment and export-led growth to greater dependence on domestic demand, and how the US reacts to it. A strategic partnership between the US and China could prevent the evolution of two power blocks that may be drawn into military conflict.”
